About the Event

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a highly researched evidence-based program that was developed at the University of Massachusetts’ Medical Center in 1979. The program includes guided instruction in mindfulness meditation, gentle stretching, and group dialogue with mindful communication exercises to help enhance awareness in everyday life.

MBSR can benefit everyone, including those who are trying to manage stress, people with medical conditions like fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, chronic pain, and depression, and anyone looking to enhance their wellbeing. MBSR is taught by Level II MBSR instructor Tanji Wolfert. According to the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical Center, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction can help you “learn how to take better care of yourself through the interplay of mind and body - and mobilizing your own inner resources for coping, growing and healing.” 

This is a specialized MBSR course for those who are ages 18 years and older and in active trauma and/or addiction recovery and their families. This is for those who want to deepen their healing and growth through trauma sensitive mindful self-awarenesss practices, education on nervous system healing, and yoga sequences that target the Polyvagal System. Specific tools will be offered to practice throughout the week for develpment of how to bring mindful awareness home as well as to everyday life.
