Teen - Resilience, Self-Awareness, and Confidence Training ages 13-17 (1)

About the Event
Young people today are growing up in a world that most parents cannot understand from a develpmental perspective. Social media, technology, the availability of pills and drugs, the pressure to compete and perform in school and sports (and now the pandemic and other societal issues) are very different from previous generations and also go hand in hand with the increased social anxiety, stress, and other mental ailments showing up at higher levels than ever before in our teens.
Although we can't mentor this upcoming generation from personal experience on how to navigate this challenging world as a teen, we can teach them how to increase their inner resilience, learn to trust their own mind and heart, and decide for them self what is best in any given circumstance. This takes deliberate effort and skill in today's world -to find that time for stillness, and know how to use it- to build this "inner knowing" and come from a place of authenticity and inner strength.
This is why Tanji created this course; to navigate and meet the needs of the individual, but also give an experiential place for them to learn first-hand how to live more mindfully and with greater ease, connection, and purpose.
The one on one sessions will focus on the specific needs of each participant, using specific tools to help them develop better sense-making of their inner and outer world. During the interactive group sessions they will experience and process with the group hands-on, true centering and self-care practices as well as learn more about the physiology of stress, effective communication, mindfulness skills and how to apply these tools in their real world.
Tanji has taught mindfulness workshops for teens in Heber Valley for years and has worked with adolescents individually as well. She has been trained extensiviely in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through University of Massachusetts Medical School's Center for Mindfulness in Healthcare and Society, as well as two different adolescent mindfulness programs. She also teaches Mindfulness courses at a few different school districts and IHC hospital in Provo, as well as mindfulness groups at Chateau Recovery Inpatient Treatment in Midway.
